Hey! I found some forbidden scrawlings on an ancient tablet when dredging for eldritch artefacts in the sea this month, check it out:

Crazy! Anyway, here’s a J-centered update on what the team has been doing this month, enjoy!
Jibrill
This month I continued work on building level 2, creating lots of cool space trickery! Which of course means lots of scripting, tweaking and building! This month I’m breaking it down funky style and creating: a list!
Teleporting
I built some teleporters that offset the player for some seamless (or near seamless) teleporting. This lets me create what looks like some non-euclidian geometry. Infinite staircases, hallways that impossibly twist in on themselves, and rooms that seem to be rotating around you can all be achieved with some sneaky teleportation! Here we can see a short walk down a hallway that twists in on itself:
A trek down a twisty hall
And here we can see the same trek with the camera pulled back:
Ye gads! It was all a ruse!
It’s all just sneaky little teleporting! Very fun to set up and build.
Loading
Less fun, but because of the way I’ve chosen to structure this level I’ve needed to finally setup a way for us to load and unload sublevels while the game is running. After banging my head against a wall for an hour, Ronan came along and sorted it out in about 30 seconds. After he worked his wizarding ways, I was able to get sublevels loading and unloading with ease.
My only slightly janky level loader blueprint
Object Activator
This one is a jank little tool I like to have in all my projects. It’s just a collider that when you walk into it, it turns some stuff off, and turns some other stuff on. This lets me do more evil space trickery that makes it seem like spaces are bigger than they really are. I can turn teleporters on and off as players walk around, creating a complex web of mind devilry.
Wax on, wax off!
Camera Volumes
I can’t remember if I’ve talked about these yet, but Ronan made this nifty trigger with a camera attached to it. When the player walks into it, their camera moves to match the distance, rotation and FOV of the camera on the volume. This lets us spin the camera around, and change its settings in different places in the level. Right now it’s only set up enough that the player can see what they’re doing. It needs some artistic flair and some movie director energy to take them to the next level.
Swish!
Furniture
We also got some new digs for the office! Ronan and I rented a ute and went furniture hunting this month. After scouring the land, we found a sweet looking second hand couch and a swish bookshelf. After hauling it all over (Ronan was afraid it was going to slide around in the tray, smash into the cab and then explode like an enemy in a lego game), we now have a beautiful little nook in the corner of our office! The space is really coming together now!
A couch!
A bookshelf!
And that is all I have for you lanky lovers today. Next month we’ll be switching gears to make sure we’re hitting all of the obligations we need to fulfil in order to secure our remaining funding for the year, so buckle up and tune in! I’ll see you again next month (:
